This is probably the the greatest piece of electronic equipment that I currently own. This CD receiver is built very solid: all metal housing, aluminum front panel, and pretty hefty at about 30 pounds altogether. Speakers are attached to the receiver through binding posts instead of spring clips and the speakers themselves sound outstanding. After a few days of use, the sounds really start to open up. When set up correctly to your room this system offers outstanding clarity and sound separation. I also love the bright, easy to read blue display which Onkyo uses (it is also dimmable on several levels). You will find that attaching a powered subwoofer to the sub pre-out will give you complete coverage of all audible frequencies. I have listened to all of my CD collection again, hearing things I have never heard before, making well-produced albums a true sonic experience.
Please don't go buy a sub-par, cheap, overpriced CD receiver (such as the sad excuses which sony make!). This is the best that money can buy. Hands down.

Neil Young is the solo debut album by Canadian musician, Neil Young. Released first in November 1968 and then partially remixed and re-released in January 1969, it was Young's first album after his departure from Buffalo Springfield. I did not purchase this itea from Amazon, however I thought to warn any who might want to!

I purchased 2 of these stereo's, one for each of my daughter ages 5 and 2. After just a few weeks of playing cd's, neither of them work any longer. I can't tell you how upset I am because this is not the first time something of this has happened with this particular brand.

A few years ago I bought a portable DVD player and the same thing happened! After a few weeks the darn thing stopped working stating it had an error.

Anyways I plan to take the stereo's back to where I purchased them and I will never buy anything from this brand or any of it's sister brands again!

Just recieved my system today. I found that the system has easy to understand instructions, even though you won't need them to connect the speakers. The sound quality is great for this type of system. I have a two bedroom apartment and it just what I was looking for as an audio system. I read some negative reviews about this systems, with the exception of the reviews that state the their system came broken, this is not a high power system it is a compact system for apartments/dorms. Replacing Stock Radio in 2002 Ford Taurus Tues

Be my friend and I are quite into the car audio / visual (was a lot of fun) and decided to change my stock radio for an aftermarket Ford.

We do not really know what we are getting ourselves into until we are out of the old deck. The 'ol Junker (well not really Junker, because this is the EATC temperature control modules are combined with a CD player) is one of the big circuit board. This looks very out-of-date that people can go to the moon with it (produced in 1974).

We haveout deck, buy aftermarket dash kit from a local car audio dealer, and connecting the new deck. THAT part was easy - but the cable back up EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control) is worse then stick yourself in the eye with a hot poker.

This is a tip for anyone who wants to replace their stock car radio - NEVER cut the cable harness. That being said, the findings of other animals that use the cable to work really has been almost impossible. None of the cablediagram of any web site that the merits - and Ford does not own that can help us.

On top of that, we bought aftermarket dash kit has no buttons - they expect us to supply the current heating system - and there is no button on the plug. We can order the buttons - $ 12 each - order switch - use cables, etc. is $ 80, the switch is about $ 100 for all three ... so the total cost to repair the heating system will haveclose to $ 500 when you combine the cost of aftermarket dash kit as well.

I do not think I will ever replace the stock radio in a Ford again. At least if I do, it will become a Ford model recognizes and really has helped the model. Buy spare parts in the Canadian Tire just doesn't cut - they do not work or fit - and when there are hardly any Ford dealer can help you, you really wonder who can.

Long story short - with winter fast approaching we fused two wirestogether to turn the heat during the winter. Simple solutions. Possible summer rolls around, we will fuse together the pair to switch AC.

Only thing that bothers me is I can not change the heat up or down. But the - so scrue it.

This is my third time to order the same item because the first two turned out to be defective on arrival. I don't know what is wrong with this product but I am very disappointed. And, since this is an inexpensive item, after the first DOA I ordered the replacement without even dealing with the return process because shipping and handling and the time I would be putting in this entire process weren't worth it. I am expecting Amazon to ship out this item with no defect and at no charge to my end-user as a courtesy.

I bought this for my daughter. It seemed perfect, but I was disappointed when it arrived:
1. It was much bigger and heavier than I envisioned. She couldn't find room for it in her room.
2. It did not have an iPod dock as I expected, merely an input to connect one.
3. It did not have a cassette deck as advertised. This was the decider for me.
Much of the blame was mine--after studying so many units, I may have confused some of the features, and if I had read more reviews I would have noticed that there was no tape deck in North American units and the features were incorrectly advertised by Sony.
We didn't even plug this unit in since it was obviously not a keeper. The return was handled flawlessly by Amazon; the lady I dealt with even had UPS pick it up at my house at Amazon's expense since I was in bed recovering from hip surgery. I continue to be a big fan of Amazon, and have all the comfort in the world doing business with them.

Sorry, but this is not a good investment. Even at 40 bucks. Poorly designed and speakers are junk. Offer better speakers and adjust price downward, because fidelity is not good. Unit is just too big for what is does. In my view it has questionable electronics. Has a hum when nothing is coming out of it. May be a suspect power transformer...who knows?. It has an input for MP3, but no line out for perhaps better speakers. No headphone jack. Not very versatile. As far as I'm concerned, this is not a true microsystem. Has Limited capability. Pay the extra and get a SONY.

This is a review of the sound and features of this unit. It is too early to report about reliability but I will update in a few months.

I was going to return this item after two days with it because the unit presented some kind of software malfunction after I played a 'burned' CD, it didn't respond to manual or control remote inputs for a while.
I was very sorry because the sound was great

However after a night of rest and several resettings, the next day the unit was working fine and has been working fine ever since. I tested both PC and Ipod modes playing "La Murga" awesome song by Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe (incredible trombone by Colon and my recommendation to test speakers also available here in mp3 from Amazon), I was not disappointed

To play music from your PC you will need to buy a 3.5 mm RCA "mini" cable. To play the Ipod (I used an Ipod mini) you dont need an Ipod dock adapter, be aware it does not work with Iphone .AM and FM Reception is clear, the unit is a little bulky but at $141 for 380 Watts of SONY sound I had to make a little extra room in my bookshelf

The CD player makes a high-pitched squeal when reading any disc, and sometimes is unable to detect the disc. It skips every few minutes, more frequently for mp3 discs, and sometimes displays "Er" and stops playing. This product is still under its 90 day warranty. I would like it replaced, but I've already thrown away the box, so I would have to buy packaging materials as well as pay for shipping in order to get the seller to replace it. Since I got for free with an Amazon gift certificate, the cost and hassle of a return isn't worth doing.

The USB port works, and that's what attracted me to this stereo in the first place. I can stick a 4GB (or whatever size) Flash drive in the port, and listen to mp3s. The remote control allows you to skip folders and songs, and control the volume. I don't know why people are complaining about sound quality. This isn't a home theater system; honestly, I think it's got great sound quality when compared with most boomboxes and computer speakers. I tested it against my computer speakers, and it is higher quality, especially when you press the bass boost button.

I needed a new cd changer, so bought this one based on other reviews. It's not bad, and I trust Sony quality, but the sound is just not good enough. To get sufficient bass you have to turn the volume up way too high. I had to ditch the speakers and run it through a 3 pc. speaker system to get satisfactory sound quality.
BUT, for the price it's certainly all you can expect.

My wife and I LOVE this thing. It is easy to use and looks great. The price was excellent for the unit you get. We use the FM stereo all morning and the sound carries throughout our kitchen, dinning room and living room. We pop in a CD for diner parties have recieved many good reviews from our guests. It is great that you can use the remote to control the iPod(we just leave it on shuffle and skip the songs we are not in the mood for. The Thing came boxed well, the instructions were clear. It sounds
Good. But the problem I have is the disply is almost unreadable even
in the dark!!!! So that make's it real hard to tune in radio stations
and do other things, like what @#$!&* mode am I in. If I had to buy
Again, NO WAY. Was going to send back but bought this unit for a buddy.
Its his Problem now! Ha Ha Ha!!!!!

This stereo is a good size for thr desk or any small place. Be aware that the speakers do not attach and there is no bal control for the speakers. Sound is not very bassy but the speakers are small...4" dia. but otherwise they sound good. Nice features , remote is small and handy.
I still recommend this stereo for the Money.

Sony MHC-EC55 Mini Hi-Fi Component System

Another reviewer aptly put that the unit does NOT have the cassette player, so I could live with that.

But the directions from Sony are terrible! It's not hard to set up, but there really are no directions clear enough on how to get the clock to stay on all the time. I have now gone to Sony's website for support. Sony's website is sorely lacking information. I tried live chat, that didn't work. So now I've been hanging on the phone for 25minutes listening to a recording about how busy they are. Ah, after 30 minutes on hold I was told to turn power on and then turn power off and that should take it out of standby mode and turn the clock on all the time, we will see. Sony needs to get their act together! They offer tutorials, but nothing for this product, live chat but it didn't work for this product. They have diagrams of the remote and the unit with all buttons numbered but not the traditional listing of those numbers and what the functions are, you have to get into the text where some (and not all) the numbers are used to explain how to do certain functions. They have great product but lack support both in their written directions and on their website.

The product itself is unbeatable from a sound standpoint for the price and size! As far as my cassettes, I'll have to convert and in the meantime use the aux port to plug a cassette player into it. At least the aux port is available which is a nice feature that some mini stereos don't have.
